Abstract

The control unit has a number of basic control channels (A,B,--X) connected in parallel and each being associated with a circuit or electronic unit of the vehicle. Each channel has an input terminal (1) onto which a voltage reference signal is applied. A signal emanating from the circuit or the unit to be controlled is applied to a second input terminal (2). The control unit has a signal comparator (3) which detects variations characterising intermittent faults in the vehicles circuits or electronic units. An output interface unit(4) is connected to a memory (6) which records each fault as it occurs and an electronic unit (9) processes the fault signals detected and memorises the location and chronological order of the faults. ADVANTAGE - Enables location of intermittent faults and gives the time of fault occurrence.
