Abstract

The present invention relates to ultralight aeronautics and, in particular, to ultralight gliders, called "free wings" or "hang gliders", controlled by movement of the body. It relates in particular to a method which consists in actuating a cable or cord 2, which, in its turn, actuates flexible surfaces 1 which put themselves in a position such that they slow the machine down and allow it to have an increased rate of descent (reduction in the lift-to-drag ratio). The invention also relates to an installation for implementing this method. The installation according to the invention comprises one or more surfaces of canvas or flexible material 1 fastened by one part to the wing and normally flattened against it, fastened by the other end to a small cord (or cable) 2 which, when pulled by the pilot, positions the flexible surfaces 1 in such a way that they act as air brakes.
