Abstract
Description
The number of electrical or electronic devices supplied on low voltage networks is constantly increasing and it has been noted that the disturbances conveyed by these networks had two distinct origins: one giving rise to transient overvoltages, l other to electromagnetic interference.
Transient overvoltages can, in some cases, reach several KV, for times ranging from a few microseconds to a few milliseconds. The incidences of these transient voltages are very numerous and can be at the origin of the destruction of the equipment connected to the network and, mainly, if they include electronic, logic or other systems.
In the absence of destruction, these transient overvoltages can cause erratic operation of the connected equipment, inadvertently trigger power circuits or cause premature wear of the equipment.
The origin of transient overvoltages is either atmospheric, or resulting from untimely or voluntary operations, such as the destruction of a fuse or the connection to the network of inductive circuits.
Electromagnetic interference does not develop high voltages on networks and rarely reaches a volt; on the other hand, their spectrum extending from a few KHz to a few MHz, disturbances of this kind are very often repetitive, even permanent, and these voltages act on electronic circuits, without destroying them, but by distorting the information stored or during storage.
Considering what is developed above, it appears clearly, that a protection, to be effective, will have to be operated, simultaneously against transient overvoltages and on electromagnetic parasites. This protection must be made as close as possible to the connection point on the network, for the following reasons
The clipping of transient overvoltages, because of the specificity of these, iesquelles can last only a few it is therefore, essential, that the absorbent element has a very fast response time, and a high absorption capacity. Zinc oxide varistors meet these criteria.
However, in order for the action of the varistor to be effective, it must in no case be connected to the network by means of connections behaving like a self, and would have the effect of delay the function of this varistor, the latter being liable to react only too late, compared to the speed of the logic circuits, for example.
With regard to electromagnetic parasites, their attenuation must be such that the remaining balance cannot have an unfortunate influence on the apparatus; beyond the need for a direct connection to the network.
Disturbances of this type are either common mode (asymmetric) or differential mode (symmetrical).
For the attenuation of asymmetric voltages, the filter will therefore comprise, according to the well known principle, inductive elements connected in series, capacitive elements connected in parallel, and bypass elements mounted between network and earth wires.
The constituents of interference filters are therefore inductors and capacitors, the latter particularly vulnerable to transient overvoltages.
The object of the present invention is to provide a device,
allowing both the clipping of transient overvoltages and
acting simultaneously as a noise filter.
Two variants are possible, that is to contain all
components in a socket-shaped socket
current. The assembly is then permanently mounted in
end of the power cable of the device to be protected
and, as a result, the autonomy conferred then makes it possible to move
switchgear and to be able to connect it to any
standardized grip.
In the following descriptions, it has been envisaged
a standard, mixed, Franco-German regarding the plug
m, âie, but, other standards could be adopted.
has for object to constitute an intermediate element connecting
also on the network, but allowing to no longer be united
of a single apparatus, and for this purpose, of comprising a housing,
provided with a male plug, always with the chosen standard, but, compor
as long, on the other side, the possibility of connecting, simultaneously,
two devices on sockets A and B, while ensuring them
individually, the same protection, and avoiding coupling
parasites, if any, between the two sockets. The schematic diagram
of the first version is N01, from sheet 1/3.
transitoires. The basic assembly (diagram N01) consists of a
interference suppressor which includes two inductance coils (9 and 10), earth bypass capacitors (1 and 2?> of value
depending on the use between 1 and 30 nF, a condensa
tor (capacity of the order of 0.05 to 0.5 uF, in parallel
on the use outputs (12 and 142, the network being connected
by pins (3 and 45. In parallel on these two terminals is
connected varistor (6), intended for absorbing overvoltages
transient.
l'objet de la planche 2/3 (Fig. de 1 à 5).In series with the phase wire of the network ending at 14 east
provided a fuse (82; the fuse holder (17) fits into the window
(22) of the cover (24), which fuse could be replaced by
a manual reset circuit breaker. The indication of placing under
voltage being highlighted by the indicator lamp {7)
A semi-exploded view, approximately at scale 1, - done

as well as an electrically and mechanically striated tongue 16
secured to 13 intended, using the cable clamp-X (151 to be secured
a contact on the possible shielding of the cable connected under the
3 wire clamps (12-13 and 14) secured to the connection plate
Fig. 3 (Plate 2/3).
The second variant of the above assembly, using the same
basic principles are provided when there is a need to connect
2 different devices on two separate sockets, also
protected against transient and parasitic overvoltages.
tion, est solidaire du capot 26.The two sockets A and B are integral with the cover 26 shown
in Fig. 2 PL 3/3. Diagram N02 PL 1/3, highlights
the use of a common core including the plug
current in Fig. 1 PL 3/3. This sheet contains the components
marked from 1 to 6, it is fixed to the housing 25 which, in the invention
tion, is secured to the cover 26.
The invention provides that the part 23 is mounted by clamping
on the housing 25, and that it can turn 1800 around its
axis, this in order to make possible the use of the assembly in
hard to reach places.
On the conductor connecting the pins or earth contacts,
marked 13 in FIG. 2 of PL 1/3, two protective inductors (15 and 16) have been inserted intended to avoid the transmission of disturbances brought about or generated by common grounding, these inductors (15 and 16J can be made up by winding a few turns on a ferrite core or any other magnetic support The assembly describes the property of ensuring common protection by varistor 6, against transient overvoltages of the network, and also, common interference suppression, provided by the capacitors (1 and 2.1
The two distinct channels A and B include a filtering specific to each channel, the values of the inductive components (9 and 10) were not mentioned, because they can be different, from one channel to another, according to, for example, current flowing through each channel.
Fig. 2 of PL 3/3, highlights the safety device 8 of diagram 2, which perhaps, as shown in Fig 2, PL 3/3, a small thermal circuit breaker, with manual reset, calibrated according to of the admissible current in each channel.
