Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device intended to equip a weighing scale, and more particularly, a digital electronic scale, for automatically adjusting it, and in particular setting the indication.
Until now, electronic scales have been adjusted to the exact indication by means of potentiometers or adjustable resistors. These known means made it possible to act, either on the gain of an amplifier, or on the reference of an analog / digital converter.
These known systems have various drawbacks. First of all, the adjustment is made by acting on a potentiometer, which limits the fineness of the adjustment.
La presente invention a pour but d'éviter ces inconvénients , en realisant un dispositif effectuant automatiquement et de façon stable , le réglage d'une bascule electronique .Indeed, this finesse cannot be lower than the minimum value observed when the movable member of the potentiometer passes from one to the other of the adjustment turns
Furthermore, the adjustment is carried out by trial and error, generally on a rotary member, for example using a screwdriver: this results in a more or less awkward operation, which always takes a long time and leaves room to wrong maneuvers
Finally, we know that the setting of a potentiometer can vary over time, in particular due to vibrations, dilations, etc., so that the setting must be periodically revised. Generally speaking, known systems thus use an analog setting
The aim of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks, by producing a device which performs automatic and stable adjustment of an electronic scale.
A device according to the invention, intended to equip the circuits with an electronic weighing scale comprising an analog / digital converter which supplies a microprocessor, is characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, a parallel interface interposed between the analog / digital converter and the microprocessor, on the other hand, a non-volatile memory, connected to the microprocessor, and into which a correction factor is introduced at the time of adjustment.
Thus, the device according to the invention makes it possible to carry out digital adjustment, and no longer an analog adjustment.
The appended drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, will allow a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention
Figures 1 and 2 show schematically the wiring plan of two solutions of types already known.
Figure 3 is the diagram corresponding to the device according to the invention.
Figure 4 shows, in more detail, the location of the memory containing the correction factor in a digital flip-flop.
- soit sur le gain d'un amplificateur 2 à gain réglable ;
In the known solution illustrated in FIG. 1, the electronic scale was adjusted to the exact indication, by means of potentiometers or adjustable resistors 1. These organs acted
- either on the gain of an amplifier 2 with adjustable gain;
- either on reference 3 of an analog / digital converter 4
These two adjustment systems were used simultaneously on certain electronic scales of the kind illustrated in FIG. 2. In this case, a fixed gain amplifier 5 makes it possible to directly attack an analog / digital converter 4 at low level, which is connected, by line 3, to a potentiometer 6 in tercalé between the supply terminals of the sensor or sensors.
Regardless of the technology used, the digital output value of the analog / digital converter 4 can be written in the form of digital output value = kx input signal.
reference signal
It can be seen that, in all these known systems, the adjustment is carried out using a potentiometer such as 6, the drawbacks of which are well known, in particular as regards the limit brought to the fineness of the adjustment.
In the device according to the invention, as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, a sensor 7 is used, as before, formed of strain gauges 1 mounted in a bridge, two poles 8 and 9 of which are connected to the lines d supply 10 and 11 of the sensor (s), while its two other poles 12 and 13 are connected to a low-level analog / digital converter 14, optionally by means of a fixed gain amplifier 15. Furthermore, a line 3 defines for the analog / digital converter 14, a fixed reference taken between two fixed resistors 16 and 17, mounted between the supply lines 10 and 11.
The output 18 of the analog / digital converter 14 is connected as well as a first switch 19 to a parallel interface 20, which feeds a microprocessor 21, also connected to a non-volatile adjustment memory 22, by means of a bus 23 on which a second switch 24 is inserted. Bus 23 constitutes a write line for accessing non-volatile memory 22.
The output 25 of the microprocessor 21 is connected in the known manner, to the printer or to the display system of the scale
In the case illustrated in more detail in FIG. 4, the analog / digital converter can be a keyboard converter making it possible to input data at the user's discretion to the microprocessor 21. An address bus 26 connects the parallel interface 20 to the memory 22 (non-volatile and electrically erasable) as well as to a read-only program memory 27, and to a random access memory 28. Furthermore, between the central unit 21 and the parallel interface 20, a data bus 29 is itself connected to the memories 22, 27, 28. Finally the central unit 21 can send synchronization and validation signals to an address decoder 30, which also has read 31 and write 32 outputs.
The first switch 19 is read periodically at each cycle by the microprocessor 21, to indicate that one is in the adjustment period
The second switch 24 cuts or establishes the access to writing in the adjustment memory 22 which contains the correction factor
We see that the setting is a digital setting (and no longer analog as in known systems). The two switches 19 and 24 make it possible to replace with an electrical memory 9 the mechanical memory that constituted the potentiometer 6 of known systems.
The operation is as follows
A - Case of a simple balance
This will for example be the case of a weight / price balance
With the scale open, the adjuster switches the two switches 19 and 24
The first switch 19 is used to indicate to the calculation system that we are about to deposit a standard charge of well-determined value. The second switch 24 is used to unlock access to the writing pin 33 of the adjustment memory. 22, the reading pin 34 of which remains permanently connected
The standard load is then deposited on the scale's load receptor
When the information leaving the analog / digital converter 14 is stable, the microprocessor 21 calculates the correction factor, and it enters the value in the adjustment memory 22
The operator then switches the two breaker linters 19 and 24 in the other direction, that is to say in the direction of their opening.
The first switch 19 indicates to the calculation system 21 that lion has returned to the normal weighing position. The second switch 24 physically prohibits writing to the adjustment memory 22. This represents security, in the event of subsequent faulty operation of the microprocessor 21
The operator s D ensures correct adjustment of the balance
Finally, it closes the hood of the machine and seals the accesses to the opening
In this way, the settings can be made by the user of the balance.
B - Case of a more sophisticated weighing device
The procedure is the same as in the previous example, except that the standard mass to be used can have any value.
22 , notamment : le nom du regleur ; la date du reglage;
etc...The value of this standard mass is entered by a keyboard which can be either an adjustment accessory or an integral part of the device
The device according to the invention has in particular the following advantages - infinite fineness of adjustment: it only depends on the calculation - cost price less high during construction - unlike a potentiometer which can vary, vibrate
expand, the memory 22 according to the invention contains a
perfectly stable numerical factor, which cannot be adjusted
not in time - better speed of adjustment: it is no longer necessary
to grope with a screwdriver - you can also put other values in the memory
22, in particular: the name of the adjuster; the date of payment;
etc ...
This latter possibility is particularly advantageous in the case of scales to be subjected to periodic adjustments (for example every two years)
