Abstract

Electronic device enabling a blind person to perceive ambient light fluctuations acoustically and thus to find his/her way with confidence. It consists of a photoresistive cell 1 located in the bridge 2 of the spectacles and whose ohmic variations are transmitted to a low-frequency oscillator varying at the same rhythm. This low-frequency oscillator is composed of a coil 3 in two layers produced on an iron core, of an electrochemical condenser 4 of 33 microfarads, of a resistor 5 tending to adjust the audible frequencies of an amplifier transistor 7, of an earpiece 8 and of an extra-flat 1.5 V battery supplying the apparatus. The oscillator is housed in a side 6 of the spectacles which is hollowed out and provided especially to receive all the components thereof.

Description

Lunettes audio visuelles
Audio visual glasses
The present invention relates to an electronic device fitted to a pair of glasses specially designed to allow the blind to navigate thanks to the auditory perception of light fluctuations
The procedures usually used by the blind to direct themselves (the cane, the dog) were not sufficient for them to be able to appreciate the distances or get a precise idea of their environment
The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks; thanks to him, the blind will be able to recognize by ear any nuance of lighting in an environment of several meters, or even several tens of meters, which will help them in particular to determine with confidence and safely the situation of the doors , windows, lamps, openings etc
So by renewing a broken link between them and the outside wave s the blind will have the feeling, at home, as outside, of no longer being abandoned in absolute darkness
They easily appreciate the distance which separates them from a light source after a time of habituation
Simple electronic system fitted to a pair of glasses specially designed to allow the blind to navigate thanks to the audio perception of light fluctuations
A LF oscillator comprising a photocell, a winding, a capacitor and an adjustable resistor reacts over a range of around 1 to 7000 FRZ depending on the ohmic variations of the cell and can be heard in an earphone.
The cell varies in resistance according to the light intensity received and is located between the lenses of the glasses, therefore directed as the eye should be.
The blind person recognizes by ear any nuance of lighting in an environment of several meters or even 'several tens of meters depending on the ambient light, which infallibly helps him to determine the situation of doors, windows, lamps, openings, etc. ..

Figure 4 Vue de 1' intérieur de la branche
Sortie fil fin dessous(A) sortie fil fin dessus (B)
Sortie fil gros dessous (C) sortie fil gros dessus (D)
In absolute darkness, the device can be adjusted so that it no longer oscillates but remains on standby or switches off by operating the switch located at the end of the equipped branch.
An embodiment is given by way of non-limiting example, referring to the attached drawings.

Figure 2 block diagram
Figure 3 Front view of the glasses
Figure 4 View of the interior of the branch
A photoresist cell (1) incorporated in the nose of the glasses, in the direction of the light sources, sees its thermal resistance vary according to the light intensity received
Via two sheathed wires, this cell is connected to a low frequency oscillator and transformer assembly composed of a winding (3), an electro-chemical capacitor (49 of 33 microfarda and a resistance (5) tending to adjust the audible frequencies
These elements of the device are contained in a branch (6) of the glasses, of hollow plastic material, specially designed to receive them.
The winding (3) is composed of two layers of copper wire 700 and 350 turns, the diameter of the shortest being twice that of the longest
This winding (3) has 4 outputs, two for fine winding and two for coarse winding, thus listed:
Thin wire output below (A) Thin wire output above (B)
Large underside wire outlet (C) Large underside wire outlet (D)
These two layers of copper wire are wound around an iron core, the thin wire being under the coarse wire.
The winding (3), capacitor (4) and resistance (5) assembly constitutes a low frequency oscillator whose rhythm varies according to the ohmic variations of the cell.
The oscillations produced are perceptible after fiction amplifier by an ItC 188 transistor (7) in an earpiece (8) located in 1 branch of the glasses, behind the ear
The device is powered by a 1.5 V battery. (9) -
