Abstract

Portable equipment for discharging heated extrudates from a prefilled cartridge incorporates a linear piston driven by an electric motor and having a head shaped to engage a floating piston head provided at one end of the cartridge. The barrel for confining the cartridge is supported by a pivot bolt which allows the barrel to move out of line with the body for the driven piston for accepting or unloading the cartridge. The barrel supports a tapering nozzle and heating coils located around the cartridge and the nozzle chambers. Pref. the nozzle has longitudinal radial ribs to increase the interfacial surface area for material passing through the nozzle.
