Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an electronic and computer device intended to be installed, inter alia, in food distribution stores or the like "Large Surfaces"
Up to now, in the majority of cases, customers of this type of store have spent as much time, if not more, at certain hours, in the queues at the checkout counters as they do for their shopping1 which discourages them from many potential customers.
On the other hand, the customer can hardly have an idea of the amount of his purchases until these are not completed and totaled at the checkout.
Ces données sont stockées dans une mémoire contenue dans le compteur défichable(C D).Likewise, for the store, inventory management and daily statistics are difficult, the acquisition of data on the items sold being shifted in time compared to reality, with the consequences that this implies, among other things the poor supply of rays
The present invention makes it possible to avoid all these drawbacks
The customer will have at his disposal to make his purchases an iOt cha equipped with electronic devices designed to read and automatically total in a plug-in counter (CD) see P1 2/2 / fig 1 te number of articles and the price to pay at as and when the goods purchased are produced, making the usual tabulation at the outlet unnecessary, of the price of the articles, saving it significant time. These data are stored in a memory contained in the plug-in counter (CD).
For the store this will allow the immediate acquisition of data concerning the goods sold, for the management and close monitoring of stocks and daily statistics and probably will bring an influx of additional customers attracted by the time savings.
We will therefore find, on the one hand the special carts made available to customers and, on the other hand the items for sale with special labels that can be read by the reader fitted to each cart.
On the label, you will find:
te / Clearly: the nature of the product weight, gon taken
20 / In machine code (the word machine code here being taken in its widest sense, that is to say readable by a machine, not example in binary code or barcode etc ...), the reference number of the ar vicle, its price, date of purchase and all information useful for inventory management and statistics. For a visual check, if any, a particular area of the label will be destroyed during reading.
1. 30 / A printed circuit of one or more passive resonant windings see P @ 1/2 fig. 1.
1. This label will be made of flexible but tear-resistant material, this in order to make fraud by partial destruction impossible by opening the continuity of the circuit of the printed coil (s).
Advantageously, the label will be designed so as to be read by
the reader, however it is presented to him, it must therefore be printed with 2 (or multiple of 2) resonant coils (BR) and 2 coded information zones (IC) .See Pl. i / 2 fig . 1.
This will also have the advantage that the accidental or deliberate destruction of one of the passive detection circuits does not make ineffective the detection of an article not taken into account by the reader. Also, the coils printed on the label will not be not visible to customers will be covered with a non-conductive film (P) which is not transparent, making it difficult to locate them, and therefore their voluntary destruction.
Voir Pl. i / 2 fig. 2. The label (E), which must be stuck on a flat side of the packaging of the articles (A), will protrude on this side in order to be embedded during the reading operation in the reader (L ), part of which (the active part of the data acquisition) will have the desired form for this. See Pl. i / 2 fig. 2.
Voir P1. i / 2 fig. i. When the customer chooses an article, he applies it to the reader (L) with which the carriage is fitted; this triggers, on the one hand, the acquisition of the data written on the label and their transfer to the memory of the counter and, on the other hand the destruction of a particular area of the label (as said above for visual control), but
also to open the circuits of passive resonant windings
The reader is provided with a voltage source of which
the PDD is applied to points A and B of the label at the time
of reading, see P1. i / 2 fig. i.
If an item is placed in the cart (or put in the pocket
without being taken into account by the reader, the detection of
this state of things will be done as follows:
A variable frequency radio transmitter installed in each cl t (velsion A) sweeps between a higher frequency and a lower frequency than the resonance frequency of the passive circuit printed on the label. If the destructible area of the label n is not burnt out by reading, the resonant winding circuit not being open, a detector associated with the transmitter reacts when the frequency sweep passes through the resonance frequency of the printed winding. This detection triggers a visual signaling and / or audible alerting the customer of "his forgetfulness" This alarm will be stopped by reading the unread label or putting the article back on the shelf.
In version B, the radio transmitter and the associated detection will only exist at the exit, at the cash desks.
The principle of reading can be magnetic or optical or other, the important thing being that the label which will be provided with the items offered for sale includes, on the one hand suitable information and on the other hand a passive printed circuit which can be switched off during the read operation.
The temporary memory with which the totalizing counter fitted to each trolley is provided can be of various types, including, among others, R.A.M. or from the electrically erasable memory known by the technical name of E.E.P.R.O.M. In the case where the R.A.M. would be used, the meter must have its own autonomous power supply so as not to lose the information to be transferred at the time of processing.
At the checkout counters, the customer, thanks to the counter totalizer (CD), knowing already that he has to pay for the file, which it serves at the same time as a temporary memory, gives it to the cashier. '' electronic equipment making it possible to transfer to a central computer, for further processing, all the data entered on the labels.
For version B, the automatic control confirming that all the articles introduced by the customer into the cart have been totaled, will obviously only take place at the exit.
For the 2 versions, the cashiers will not accept a customer's counter and will only have them adjust what is displayed there 'there is no non-reading signal.
There are in addition 2 possible additional controls:
-1 / By comparing the number of items in the cart with the number displayed on the total counter, because the latter will not only total the amount to be paid but will count the number of items taken into account.
-2 / By visual control, since each article is provided with a stake including a destructible zone for reading.
It may be desirable to provide a special cash register possibly allowing the reimbursement of items taken into account by the reader but not desired by the customer, and generally for any possible deduction.
It is obvious that the foregoing description has been given only by way of nonlimiting example and that numerous variants can be envisaged without departing from the scope of the invention.
