Abstract

The invention relates to a change intended for collecting the urine or the faecal matter in human beings. According to the invention, the change consists of a bag 1 made of impervious material, the inner wall 2 of which is coated with a layer 3 of absorbent material, the bag having means for evacuating the urine or the faecal matter from the body of the subject at the level of the absorbent layer 3. These means consist of a penile passage 10 when the change is used for collecting the urine in male subjects, and of an orifice 14 when it is used for collecting the faecal matter. The invention is more particularly intended to be used by male persons suffering from urinary incontinence, enuresis, subjects with stomas, the bedridden or the like.

Description

 The invention relates to a diaper intended for collecting urine or faeces from human beings. It will find its application in particular for male subjects suffering from urinary incontinence, enuretics, bedridden or sick persons, ostomy subjects having undergone a bypass.

 Currently, male subjects suffering from urinary incontinence have, at their disposal, in particular devices constituted by a penis case connected by a hose to a waterproof pocket which can be fixed on one of the body parts of the subject. To avoid the flow of urine out of the penis sheath, various means of sealing have been proposed which fit onto the patient's penis. However, these means do not ensure total and safe sealing, and their installation can pose difficulties. In addition, such devices are relatively bulky and can be inconvenient for patients because of the presence of the hose connecting the penis sheath to the waterproof pocket.

 Also, incontinent people are reduced to adopting uncomfortable and insecure solutions, for example, using children's diapers or feminine hygienic protections. In addition to the fact that these solutions do not offer any guarantee as to leaks and odors, their use by men is generally accompanied by serious psychological problems linked to the insecurity in which they find themselves permanently.

 Furthermore, for certain bedridden patients who cannot move, it is known to use complete diapers, which results in additional work for the service personnel.

For other patients, bladder evacuation is ensured by means of a catheter which collects urine directly from the patient's bladder. This latter solution can be particularly painful for the patient and considerably limits his autonomy.

In another area, in subjects who have undergone a bypass of the intestine, that is to say who have an artificial anus, the faeces are generally collected in sealed pockets which are fixed on the subject's body at the level of childbirth. The main difficulty for these bags is to ensure a total and permanent seal against liquids and odors at the level of fixation on the patient's skin.  The main purpose of the present invention is to provide an absorbent cloth which overcomes the drawbacks mentioned above denm., Ent, and which can be adapted either to collect urine in male subjects, or to collect fecal matter in ostomy subjects.

 For this, the diaper according to the invention will be in the form of a pocket whose internal walls will be coated with a layer of absorbent material on which the subject's excrement will flow directly, in order to ensure diffusion and immediate absorption of urine or feces. Due to this immediate absorption, it is no longer necessary to ensure a total seal between the body of the subject and the pocket into which these excrements are discharged. Therefore, the invention eliminates the many drawbacks mentioned above, in particular for male subjects for whom urine is collected in a pocket. In addition to the risks of leaks which are eliminated, the change according to the invention provides additional comfort in removing any tightening at the level of the rod of its users.

 Vis-à-vis the complete diapers existing for children, the diaper according to the invention, in the form of a pocket provides additional security since it eliminates any risk of leakage.

 Another object of the present invention is to provide for incontinent subjects a more practical and less bulky material than existing devices. For this change, according to the invention, will consist only of a pocket into which will be introduced at least partially the rod of the subject, the pocket can be fixed directly on the body thereof. Also, the diaper according to the invention will be more comfortable than the waterproof device described above, which included both a penis case, a hose and a waterproof pocket. In another way, the user of this change will be less dependent on the material since he can easily change it periodically.

 The diaper according to the invention will also provide additional comfort since 7 2 absorbent material will be disposed only at the front tzars' e useful area and thus the weavers will be less hampered in their movements.

 Compared to existing complete diapers, the absorbent diaper, according to the invention, has a better seal given that it is constituted by a pocket, almost closed, which considerably limits the risks of liquid flow outside of the pocket and the spread of odors.

 Another advantage of the invention is that it can be used by bedridden persons, thus eliminating the need to lift them, and that it is possible to replace, in certain cases, the use of a probe, thus contributing to reducing the risks of lesion of the urinary tract.

 In atomized subjects, the absorbent diaper provides additional comfort by considerably reducing the risk of odors since the faeces immediately diffuse into the absorbent material.

 The diaper can also be used in women, provided that they use a catheter inserted into their bladder.

 In a general way, the change according to the invention will contribute to improving the comfort of its users, and therefore, will reduce the psychological tensions to which they are subjected.

 Another object of the invention is to provide a change which is not used only in a specialized environment, but which is a product of current consumption whose cost price will put it within the reach of all of its potential users.

 Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent during the description which follows, which is given for information only and which is not intended to limit it.

 The diaper intended to collect urine or faeces, especially in incontinent, enuretic, ostomy subjects who have undergone a bypass of the intestine, bedridden or not, is characterized by the fact that it includes a pocket made of waterproof material, inner wall is coated with a layer of absorbent material, the pocket having means for evacuating urine or feces from the subject's body at the absorbent layer.

 The invention will be better understood if reference is made to the description below and to the accompanying drawings which form an integral part thereof.

 The diaper according to the invention, illustrated in two embodiments, respectively in Figures 1 and 2, 3 and 4, consists of a pocket 1, made of waterproof material, the internal wall 2 of which is coated with a layer of material absorbent 3.

 In the illustrated embodiments, the waterproof pocket 1 is in the form of two sheets 4 and 5, made of a plasticized material which are welded on their periphery 6 so as to define an interior volume 7 in which the layers of absorbent material 3. The two pl asti fied sheets will be welded in a sealed manner over their entire periphery or over almost their entire periphery according to their subsequent use. The joining between the two sheets will be carried out according to a strip of one to a few centimeters in width disposed on the periphery of the diaper, by any means known to those skilled in the art, and in particular, it will be possible to use processes by thermofusion which will ensure immediate welding and high reliability with regard to sealing.

 The plasticized sheets will be made of materials generally used for similar functions in complete diapers, and may, for example, be made of PVC, polyvinyl chloride.

 The diaper according to the invention has a bulged part 8 at the level of the zone in which the two layers of absorbent material are arranged. The bulged part 8 is connected to the welded edges 6 by folds 9 whose shape comes to adapt to that of the layers of absorbent material included in the interior volume 7.

 To make the layers of absorbent material, materials known to those skilled in the art will be used, and they may in particular be made of cellulose wadding. In addition, the fixing between the absorbent layer and the corresponding plasticized sheet will be carried out according to traditional methods.

 To eliminate any risk of leakage, the diaper, according to the invention, presents means making it possible to evacuate the urine or the fecal matter from the subject's body at the very level of the absorbent layer. As a result, the liquid materials will diffuse directly into the absorbent material, thus achieving the immediate disappearance of any liquid phase inside the bag.

 In the case of diapers more particularly intended for collecting urine from male subjects, these means consist of a penile passage 10, produced in the welding zone o of plasticized sheets into which the patient's penis will be introduced, which will thus be maintained by absorbent material cushions. Therefore, the flow of urine will take place directly in the middle of the pocket, between two cushions of absorbbania material.

 In addition, to ensure the cohesion of the absorbent layers, each of these will be covered by a nonwoven veil 11, which will define with each other a gap 12 into which the rod will be introduced.

 The penile passage 10 will preferably be made in the longitudinal plane of the diaper so as to be delimited by the absorbent sheets 4 and 5.

 The penile passage 10 may be in the form of a more or less sheathing tip, such as that which has been illustrated in FIG. 1.

 In a preferred embodiment, the penile passage 10 may be provided with clamping means to ensure perfect tightness of the diaper. These sealing means may be constituted, for example, by elastic elements 13, integrated into the plasticized sheets 4 and 5, at the time of manufacture of the absorbent change.

 I1 may be provided with other means for sealing, but these means will have a relatively low voltage so as not to create discomfort for users. One can also conceive a diaper whose passage would be relatively wide, and which would not present any particular sealing means. This change could be used by incontinent subjects to collect urine between two successive urinations.

For its second application, namely collecting the matSP-
fecal res in ostomy patients the change according to the invention is
illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4. The means enabling the excrement to be removed from the absorbent layer are provided under the
shape of an orifice 14, made in one of the plasticized sheets 4;
this orifice, whose shape is, preferably circular, is surrounded
by an adhesive and insulating zone 15 which makes it possible to fix the pocket on
the patient's body, so that the orifice 14 is located opposite

For diapers intended to collect faeces,
the thickness of the layers of absorbent material may be reduced

Claims (10)

 1. Diaper intended to collect urine or faeces, in particular in incontinent subjects, enuretics, s omitted having undergone a diversion of the intestine, bedridden or not, characterized in that it comprises a pocket (1) in waterproof material, the internal wall (9) of which is coated with an absorbent material layer (3), the pocket having means for evacuating urine or faeces from the subject's body at the absorbent layer (3).  2. Change according to claim 1, characterized in that the sealed pocket (1) is in the form of two plasticized sheets (4) and (5) welded on their periphery (6), each of the internal faces (2 ) is covered by an absorbent layer (3).  3. Change according to claim 2, more particularly intended for collecting urine in male subjects, characterized in that the means for evacuating urine from the subject's body at the absorbent layer (3) are in the form a penile passage (10), produced in the welding plane of the plasticized sheets (4) and (5), which open into the gap (12) between the nonwoven webs (11) with which the absorbent layers are coated (3).  4. Change according to claim 2, more particularly for collecting faeces in ostomy subjects who have undergone a diversion, characterized in that the means for removing the faeces from the subject's body at the absorbent layer (3) are in the form of an orifice (14) produced in one of the plasticized sheets (4) surrounded by an adhesive and insulating zone (15) which is adapted around the abutment of the bypass.  7.
