Abstract

Building-site brick cutter making it possible to reduce some of the dimensions of standard bricks, in order to allow them to be inserted with ease into certain regions of the construction. It consists of a base 1 on which the lower cutter 2 is mounted. The upper cutter 3 can slide along two spindles 8 which are integral with the lower cutter. For cutting, the brick is placed on the base 1 and on the blade 2, the cutter 3 is brought into contact and cutting is carried out by giving the cutter 3 a sharp blow with a hammer. It should be noted that, when not being used, the cutters 2 and 3 do not join but are separated by a space forming a guard against accidents during work. The apparatus can be adapted for blocks having similar physical characteristics, and similar problems. The lower cutter 2 may be detachable or permanently fixed.

Description

 In brickwork, it often happens that on site, we have to cut some bricks in order to be able to insert them correctly in certain parts of the building, framing of doors or windows, ends of walls erc ... The device presented allows this operation quickly, correctly and without danger.

 The attached figure gives a nonlimiting example of embodiment of the invention. This figure has not been traced with a scale and certain parts have been shown diagrammatically, models of different sizes can indeed be produced on the same principle.

The device essentially consists of a base support (I) on which the lower knife (2) is permanently fixed - There may be a version with a removable knife.
At the two ends of this knife are sleeves (6) yes maintain pins (4) which serve as guides with soft sliding to the upper knife (3) ended as (2) by sleeves (7).

 To improve the quality of the cut, the cutting edges of the knives are cut with a single bevel or with two slopes, depending on the model.

 The apparatus can be adapted for its use with materials other than brick, but having similar structures.
