Abstract

The invention relates to so-called "crush" equipment whose purpose is to restrain cattle to enable medical or other operations to be carried out safely. It comprises a surrounding framework which is open at both ends and has no bottom; it has two wheels at the front and two feet at the rear. This enables one person on his own to lead an animal attached to a feed rack inside it. Many applications of this invention can be found by milk producers who process stanchions and who often have to handle their animals on their own.

Description

 The present invention relates to equipment of the "con-tettron cage for bvins" type, making it possible to control cattle in order to carry out certain interventions, in particular sanitary: hoof size, bites, skin care, etc.

 In known devices of this kind, it is necessary to bring the animal into the cage, which requires the participation of at least two people, involves risks of kicks and horns, and often causes excitement of the herd.

 The proposed cage avoids most of these drawbacks.

It is designed for farms equipped with feed locks in which cattle are held by the neck when they come to eat at the trough. According to the invention, the cage is mobile, easily maneuvered by a single person, is brought so as to "wrap" the animal fixed to its head lock. With the device in place, all that remains is to "block" the animal with the available accessories, straps, anti-recoil bar, etc. The planned interventions can then be carried out.

 When the bovine is attached to the device, the other bovines, in particular the closest can be released to facilitate access to the front limbs of the animal present in the cage.

As shown, the apparatus comprises a rectangular metal frame (1) with only two sides and a top. It is based on
the front on two wheels (3) fixed to the outside and set back from the front end of the cage so as to limit the weight supported by the person who operates it, and at the rear on two feet (17) .

 At 11 before, a chain on each side (15) allows the cage to be fixed to the feed fence to prevent it from moving back.

 Also washing, on each side, a removable shelf (16) and a base allow to grab a front leg of the cattle and fix it to quietly perform the necessary operations.

 The front part of the cage is open while at the rear, on each side, a device of sliding bars in the height ens (12 and 21), and front to back (18) constitutes an anti -back adjustable to the size of the cattle.

 Two straps passing under the bovine to maintain it at a suitable height are connected by pulleys to a lathe (7), fixed to the rear of the cage and operated by a handle. This lathe has a blocking system (8).

 Another tower (5) fixed lower on sliding (14) and removable bars makes it possible to approach and block the foot of the cattle and thus to carry out the planned care in good conditions.

 The cage, object of the invention, can be used in all farms where animals are kept in the headlocks.

 This invention is all the more interesting that the use of the lock feed is very widespread in the breeding regions and that moreover a single man takes care of the cattle herd on the farms.

Cage for cattle, characterized by the fact that it comprises a chassis composed of two lateral sides and a top, two wheels fixed at the front of the lateral sides and two feet at the rear of the lateral sides.  2. Cage for cattle according to claim 1, characterized in that the front part is open, the rear part is provided with an adjustable bottom by two sliding bars.  3. Cage support for cattle according to claim 2, characterized in that the front wheels (3) are fixed a little behind the front end.
