Abstract

Description

"ABSORBENT COMPLEX FOR MEDICAL USE"
The present invention relates to an absorbent complex for medical use.

 There are different types of absorbent complexes for medical use intended in particular for forming dressings.

 According to a first possibility, the surface of the wound is covered with a non-perforated waterproof film, itself covered with protrusion on all sides, with a relatively thick absorbent layer (wadding type, hydrophilic cotton, etc.), bodily matter or excretions. being absorbed by this layer outside the injured surface.

 According to another possibility, the surface of the wound is covered with a perforated film or a relatively permeable thin layer allowing the direct passage of humors or excretions to an absorbent layer (always of the cotton or hydrophilic cotton type) placed directly on the film. or the layer.

 The fact that in the two types of dressings mentioned above the textile web consists of a nonwoven, such as cotton wool or hydrophilic cotton, is disadvantageous because of the large thickness of material which is not always compatible. with the desired applications, and due to the lack of homogeneity and resistance of the material.

 The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by providing an absorbent complex of the type comprising a perforated plastic film, non-allergenic and non-toxic, intended to be applied against the patient's skin without risk of adhesion, assemble1 has a textile web constituting the absorbent element.

 To this end, the textile sheet is constituted by gauze woven into threads, at least part of which has a great absorbing power and the texture of which can vary depending on the application envisaged.

 This is how gauze of 10, 13 and 17 threads per cm can be used in particular. Cotton threads are perfectly suitable for this use.

 The perforated plastic film which must, of course, be non-allergenic and non-toxic, can be made of polypropylene or polyester. Its perforations can other of variable dimensions going from the micron to a millimeter and more.

 Thanks to the presence of woven gauze, this complex has great mechanical resistance which facilitates its handling.

 It can be used alone as a bacteriological barrier or as a bed sheet for patients receiving care for burns or bedsores. It can also also be used as a dressing in combination with another textile layer having a very high absorption capacity such as hydrophilic cotton, either by simple superposition on this other textile layer, or as an envelope and thus constituting a super-absorbent dressing. or a pressure dressing.

 It can also other used, as is, but in combination with an adhesive either deposited directly on the free face of the perforated film, or by means of a film or adhesive tape fixed to its external face and projecting at least in part of the perimeter of the complex.

 In the first caJ, it can be used as a flchampu for surgical operation, the surface of the film covered with adhesive being determined by the nature of the operation concerned.

 It can also be used as an emergency dressing or small adhesive dressing or even adhesive suture, the despair ncétant being provided only on an annular area able to surround the wound.

 The assembly between the perforated plastic film and the woven gauze sheet can be carried out in any suitable manner and in particular by gluing, heat sealing, heat sealing, or the like, with or without pressure.

 In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows with reference to the appended diagrammatic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting examples, several applications of this complex.

 The complex object of the intention is, as illustrated by the drawing, constituted by the assembly of a film (2) of non-allergenic and non-toxic plastic material having perforations (3), and a sheet ( 4) woven gauze whose texture depends on the application or the desired mode of use. This complex which therefore comprises a non-adherent face (that corresponding to the film (a)), suitable for being applied against a wound and non-permeable thanks to the perforations (3) and allowing exudates or other secretions of a wound through the film (2) and reaching the woven gauze sheet (4) which constitutes the absorbent element of this complex.

 Compared with known complexes of this type, that of the invention has the advantage of an excellent mechanical resistance which the woven gauze sheet (4) gives it.

This must obviously be made, at least partially, of textile yarns having a great absorbing power and of cotton yarns possibly mixed with other yarns such as polyester yarns which are perfectly suitable for making this gauze.

 A plastic material which is perfectly suitable for making up the perforated film (2) is polypropylene or else polyester.

 The size of the perforations is determined by the type of use targeted by the complex and therefore their dimensions can vary from i to several microns to a few millimeters.

 The assembly of the film (2) and the woven gauze sheet (4) can be carried out in any suitable manner, this is how it can be carried out in particular by gluing, heat-bonding or even heat-sealing, these operations themselves being carried out with or without pressure.

 This basic complex also has, compared to known complexes of this type, the advantage that gauze is recognized as a pharmaceutical product which is not the case for nonwovens.

 This basic complex can be used alone, that is to say in the form shown in FIG. 1, for example as a bacteriological barrier or even as a bed sheet for patients receiving care for burns or bedsores.

 As illustrated in FIGS. A and 3, it can also be used in combination with a third layer (5) of textile fibers having a very high absorption capacity. This layer (5), which is generally a layer of nonwoven fibers, may consist of hydrophilic cotton or wadding.

 In the example illustrated on; In FIG. 2, the layer (5) constitutes an additional layer of a three-layer complex. In this example, the 3rd layer (5) is assembled to the free face of the woven gauze sheet (4) of the base complex in any suitable manner and in particular by gluing, heat-bonding or heat-sealing.

 In the example illustrated in FIG. 3, the layer (5) constitutes the inner core of a sort of cushion, the envelope of which is produced by the base complex formed by the film (2) and the textile sheet (4 ), this cushion being held in shape by transverse welds (6).

 In the two embodiments illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, super-absorbent dressings or even compressive dressings are therefore produced from the basic complex.

 In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 4 and 5, the basic complex formed by the film (2) and the woven gauze sheet (4) as illustrated in FIG. 1 is associated with an adhesive.

 In a first variant of the examples illustrated in FIG. 4, an adhesive plastic material (7) is deposited on the free face of the film (2), all along its periphery, forming in this example a rectangular frame capable of surround the wound to be protected or treated.

Naturally, one could just as easily provide for any other perimeter, both for the complex and for the adhesive strip associated with it.

 FIG. 4 also illustrates another variant of use of this complex, a variant concerning a field for surgical operations. In this case, the dimension of the complex being much greater than that necessary for the realization of a dressing of the urgent type which live on the other described above, the central part of the free face of the film (2) is coated with an adhesive as illustrated, in phantom, in (8) in Figure 4.

 The surgeon can then, after applying the field to the patient's skin so as to surround the part to be incised, perform his operation through the basic complex which adheres to him on either side of the incision to the patient's skin and thus prevents microbial migration. It should also be noted that the perforations (3) in the plastic film (2) allow the part of the skin concerned to breathe, thus eliminating any risk of untimely sweating with the consequences accompanying this phenomenon.

 In the example illustrated in FIG. 5, a sheet (9) having an adhesive surface is applied against the free face of the woven gauze sheet (4) of the base complex, so as to protrude at least partially relative to the perimeter of this complex and allow it to be fixed as a dressing against a wound.

 The adhesive sheet (9) can obviously completely cover the base complex or have only the shape of a frame as illustrated in (9a) in FIG. 5.

It has been indicated previously that the perforations (3) of the film (2) allow the filtration of serosities and other secretions originating from the skin or from the wound covered by the basic complex.
The breathability that the perforations (3> give to the film (2) also makes it possible to imbibe or impregnate the woven gauze sheet and the additional textile layer (5) possibly with an antiseptic or therapeutic product which could filter towards the wound.

 As is obvious and as follows from the foregoing, the invention is not limited to the sole embodiments of this film which have been described above, by way of nonlimiting examples; on the contrary, it embraces all of its variant embodiments.

Claims (10)

- CLAIMS  1. - Absorbent complex for medical use, of the type comprising, assembled together, a perforated plastic film (2), non-allergenic and non-toxic, intended to be applied against the patient's skin, without risk dta- adhesion, and a textile sheet (4) constituting the absorbent element of this complex, characterized in that the nappa tex tile (4) consists of gauze woven into threads, at least part of which has great power absorption and whose texture may vary depending on the intended application.  2. - absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 1, characterized in that the perforated film (2) is made of polypropylene.  3. - absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 1, characterized in that the perforated film (2) is polyester.  4. - absorbent complex for medical use according to any one of claims 3 1 to 3, characterized in that the gauze constituting the textile sheet (4) is woven with pure cotton yarn or mixed with polyester fibers.  5 - absorbent complex for medical use according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is associated with another layer of non-woven textile material (5) having a very high absorption capacity.  6. - absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 5, characterized in that the layer of non-woven textile material is associated with it by simple superposition.  7. - absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 5, characterized in that it is used as an envelope around the layer on non-woven textile material having a high absorption capacity.  8. - absorbent complex for medical use according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is associated with an adhesive.  9. - absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 8, characterized in that the adhesive (7) is deposited directly on the free face of the film (2 =), along the perimeter of the latter, so as to allow the use of this complex as an emergency dressing.  10. - absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 8, characterized in that the adhesive (8) is deposited in the central part of the free face of the film (2), so as to allow its use as a field of surgery.  li. - Absorbent complex for medical use according to claim 8, characterized in that the adhesive is carried by the film or adhesive tape attached to the free face of the woven gauze sheet (4), so as to at least partially extend beyond the perimeter of the film (2).  12. - absorbent complex for medical use according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the woven gauze sheet (4) is pre-impregnated or pre-soaked with an antiseptic or therapeutic product.  13. - A method of manufacturing the complex according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the assembly of the perforated plastic film (2) and the woven gauze sheet (4) is carried out by gluing, heat sealing or heat sealing.
