Abstract

The handling equipment uses a chain conveyor to displace mfd. goods etc. on a steeply inclined path without slippage. The path may be straight or may spiral upwards and each link has an upper bearing surface coated with nylon polyamide with a bristle length varying from 0.5 to 5 mm depending on the nature of the goods conveyed. The nylon is applied after sanding and glueing of the relevant face, and by an electrostatic process known as electrostatic flocking. The coefft. of friction of the bristled surface may be such that the inclination of the conveyor is up to three times greater than that of conventional equipment, and the bristles may have shock-absorbant characteristics reducing damage to fragile goods.
