Description

The present invention relates to the cleaning of wet rollers dressed with textiles, used in conventional wetting devices of offset printing machines. It proposes new compositions usable for this purpose.

Offset is a lithographic process based on a perfect hydrophilic-lipophilic balance. Hydrophilicity is a function of the state of pro preste wet rollers. These are loaded during printing not only greasy soils, but also solid soils (ink pigments, paper fluff, mineral fillers) thus breaking this fragile balance. The printer is therefore led to frequently clean these rollers.

Traditionally, the cleaning of wet rollers was carried out in several operations - washing by brushing the rollers with petrol, with white spirit, or
sometimes even to automobile gasoline; - rinsing with water; and - deposit of white chalk from Spain (calcium carbonate) that absorbs
fatty substances, then removed with water.

This way of operating was long, inefficient and dangerous; it required large quantities of hydrocarbons damaging the environment.

More recently, the use of industrial detergents (of the type sold under the trademark "Teepol") has been generalized.

The present invention provides improved wash compositions that exhibit greater efficiency in penetration of soiled textiles and in soil removal. Depending on the amount of soil to be removed, these compositions can be used pure or diluted by varying amounts of water. They still have the advantage of being easier to rinse with water, because they form with water pseudo-colloidal solutions dilutable in all proportions.

In general, the compositions considered in the invention contain a major proportion (for example from 85 to 98% by weight, of at least
a solvent selected from liquid hydrocarbons of aliphatic type
than, alicyclic or aromatic and optionally among hydrocarbons
liquid halide fluids; a minor proportion (for example from 2 to 10% by weight) of at least
a nonionic emulsifier; - possibly a minor proportion (for example not more than 5%
by weight) of an anionic surfactant having
wetting; as well as, advantageously, a minor proportion (for example from 0.1 to 3% by weight) of a
organic stabilizer capable of reducing interfacial tension
oil-water systems, and induce a colloidal dispersion.

The compositions considered in the invention may also contain a minor proportion of water, for example from 2 to 10% by weight relative to the weight of said anhydrous composition.

Hereinafter, the constituents of the cleaning compositions of the invention are described more precisely.

As aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, dodecane, tetradecane, isopropylbenzene or para-cymene may be used more particularly, or various petroleum cuts, such as gasolines, white-spirits, deflavored or otherwise, solvents. naphtha and lamp oils, whether flavored or not.

One particularly suitable is a section whose distillation range is from 160 to 2100 C and which has a volume composition of the type
n-alkanes: 20 - 25%
isoalkanes: 35 - 45%
cycloalkanes: 35 - 40%
Alkylbenzenes: <3.5%
The presence of at least one halogenated hydrocarbon in the compositions of the invention is particularly advantageous in that it makes it possible to improve the stability of the emulsions formed by dilution with water.

Examples of liquid halohydrocarbons are trichloroethane-III and trichlorotrifluoroethane. The halogenated organic solvent may constitute up to 25% by weight of the composition.

The nonionic emulsifying agents used in the cleaning compositions of the invention are chosen from compounds which have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (BHL) of 1 to 14, preferably 8 to 12. As examples such compounds include: BHL - anhydrosorbitol trioleate 1.8 - anhydrosorbitol monooleate 4.3 - ethoxylated lauric alcohol (2 moles) 6.6 - polyethylene glycol monooleate 200 8.4 - Polyethylene glycol monooleate 300 9.5 - Polyethylene glycol monooleate 400 11.0 - Ethoxyl sorbitan trioleate (20 moles) 11.5 - Ethoxylated castor oil (40 moles) 13.0
It is also possible to use a mixture of two or more nonionic emulsifiers. In this case, it is the overall BHL value which must be between the previously fixed limits.

The preferred total concentration of nonionic emulsifiers is from 2 to 5% by weight.

It is often advantageous to also use an anionic surfactant having good wetting properties. It will be chosen more particularly from sodium di-alkyl sulphosuccinates, such as dioctyl, dihexyl or sodium bis-tridecyl sulphosuccinate. In most cases, such anionic surfactant will be introduced into the cleaning compositions of the invention in a proportion of 0.5 to 4% based on the weight of said composition.

As a colloidal organic stabilizer capable of reducing the interfacial tension of oil-water systems, lecithin, especially soy lecithin, is advantageously used in a pre-drilled proportion of 0.7 to 1.6% by weight.

It is also possible to use gelatin, gum arabic, agar or polysaccharides from microbial cultures in fermenters.

For the cleaning of soiled objects, such as natural or synthetic textiles constituting the coating of the damping rollers of printing machines (offset type), said objects are brought into contact with a cleaning composition as described in FIG. the invention can be used as such or diluted by varying amounts of water, thus forming a stable emulsion. The proportion of water added may be, for example, from 50 to 300% relative to the weight of the composition.

Thanks to the presence of the emulsifier and possibly the surfactant, the solvents penetrate the fabric to be cleaned and effectively detach the dirt. This is followed by a rinsing with water, whereby a milky oil-in-water emulsion is obtained, the average diameter of the particles (droplets) of which is of the order of a few microns. This stable emulsion rich in water, is itself endowed with washing properties.
