Abstract

A ceramic shell (1) houses a metallic linkage sleeve (2) which is provided with two tapped holes to accommodate fixing screws (4,5). One of the screws (4) clamps the lamp terminal pin socket jacks (3), which are introduced into one end of the sleeve, and the other clamps the bare-end of the connector wire (6). The tightening of the screws also anchors the sleeve within the ceramic shell. Once the socket jacks and wires have been inserted and correctly positioned by inserting a pair of lamp terminals, the screws are tightened and a soft, heat-resistant resin is injected into the wire-side of the shell, filling the space between sheath and shell. Once set, the resin holds the assembly together but restrains same flexibility to allow relief of any stresses set up.
