Abstract

Appts. is claimed for the disposal of highly polluted effluent and the prodn. of humus. The effluent is percolated through a bed of organic, partic. cellulosic, waste counter current to a stream of heated air rising through the bed. Vapour rising from the bed is condensed and the condensate is circulated through the battery of a heat exchanger to pre-heat air to be blown through the bed. Used for disposing of highly conc. industrial effluent combined with the bio-digestion of organic, partic. cellulosic waste. Humus for agricultural fertilisation is produced by fermentation of the waste fortified with residue from the effluent. Appts. is partic. suitable for handling effluent from factories using evapn. for thermal concn. The effluent is eliminated with polluting the atmos. with an objectionable smell. The prodn. of humus is made viable by recycling heat of condensate to preheat incoming air.

Description

Thermo-blo-digestor device for the depollution of liquid effluents and the production of humus.

It is intended for the treatment of high concentration effluents with a view to recovering the by-products of factories operating under thermal concentration by evaporators.

Currently, the cost of the energy consumed by these installations condemns their exploitation. Anaerobic digesters require very large investments and exile both upstream and downstream of additional facilities. This is how the wine distilleries tried to solve the problem of energy cost by practicing physicochemical treatments followed by evaporative lagooning, but these installations spread bad smells without allowing the recovery of by-products.

The device according to the invention eliminates these drawbacks and makes it possible to considerably reduce energy consumption, while giving the possibility of recovering waste as well as of producing heat energy.

It is made up of the equipment ensuring the ventilation loop which allows evaporation, condensation, erasing of liquid pollution and the use of calories given up in condensed water.

In the attached drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, of one of the embodiments of the object of the invention, the device is shown as a whole seen in section and in elevation.

According to the representation given, the hopper 1 supplies the box-tunnel 2 with cellulose and wood waste.

The mass of towed material can contain raffles used as a runoff and filtration substrate, vinasse from wine distillations, concentrates from food processing factories, etc ... is engaaée on an adjustable layer of about two meters in height . This layer is towed on a perforated floor 3 by a set of chains and crosspieces 4, 4 '.

The liquid effluent is collected in 5 and moderately sprinkles the moving mass 2 by means of ramps 6, 6,
A blowing by fans 7, 8, 9, 10, is organized so as to recycle by 11, ll ', 12, 13, on heating batteries 14, 15, 16, 17, and thus allow to admit fresh air 18, 19, 20, 21 while discharging gas through 22, 23, 24.

The batteries through the conduits 25, 26, 27, 28 strip the calories taken up by the condensation of the water vapor entrained by the recycling are trapped in the condensing recuperators 29, 30, 31.

The water loops pulsed by these pumps 32, 33, 34 after having transferred the calories to the air in the batteries 14, 15, 16, 17, are raised to the condensers 29, 30, 31 to be sprayed at the head. The overflows represent evaporation.

The exit compartment of the tunnel 35 corresponds to the area for drying the decomposed biomass which can be conditioned 36 for marketing.

This set constitutes an industrial application with continuous and automated production. This treatment process can be applied to one or more static chambers with batch loading, in spaced rotations as a function of the digestion and decomposition times.

However, the shapes, dimensions and arrangements of the various elements, as indeed the materials used for their manufacture, may vary within the limit of equivalents, without thereby changing the general conception of the invention which has just been described.
