Abstract

The joint consists of a U-shaped plastics strip which fits over the edge of a sheet metal component. The strip is moulded around a plastics reinforcing frame made-up of several parallel strips of plastics (1) which are connected by two parallel, embedded fibre glass cords (2). The insert is formed flat in a rotary moulding machine. An extruder is used to coat the insert during which it is reheated and formed into the required U-shape.
