Description

There are protective clothing known as NBCF, that is to say intended to protect from the effects of fallout of radioactive dust after a nuclear explosion, as well as from the corrosive, toxic or other effects of biological substances (in particular biological bat) and chemical, and finally protect against fire.

The present invention relates to such a garment of a new design by the nature of the materials which constitute it.

This garment is characterized in that it comprises an outer layer of flame-retardant fabric, made of mixed fibers of a non-flammable and thermostable polyamide-imide and of a flame-retardant viscose, and an inner layer forming a lining, fixed or removable, of polyurethane impregnated with activated carbon.

Figure img00010001

Les précédents exem ples ne sont aucunement limitatifs.the fabric of the outer layer may be a woven fabric, a knitted fabric or a nonwoven. the non-flammable and thermostable polyamideimide fibers may be the fibers of the brand "Kermel" manufactured by the French company Rh8ne-Poulene-
Textile and belonging to the chemical family of general formula
Figure img00010001

these fibers are colored in the mass. They can be the fibers of the brand, Nomex "manufactured by the American company Dupont de Nemours. The flame-retardant viscose fibers can between those of brand 1, Viscose IF 80" manufactured by the French company Rhône-Poulenc-Textile and permanent fireproofing by pigmentary incorporation into the mass. The preceding examples are in no way limiting.

A fabric completely suitable for the outer layer is a mixed Eermel-Viscose IF 80 fabric comprising 50 by weight of each of the two fibers; the two kinds of fibers are mixed in fluff when the yarn is made. With this yarn, you can make a satin or twill of around 250 g / m or a chevron on the basis of twill of 205 g / m2. All fabrics in Kermel-Viscose IF 80 have NBC specific properties and also provide high permanent protection against heat and fire, being non-combustible. In addition, they offer a permanent antistaticity and a high humidity recovery ensuring great comfort, due to the presence of viscose, good resistance to hot concentrated acids and permanence of the color, the constituent fibers of these fabrics being colored in the mass. These fabrics also have the high mechanical strengths, which characterize Kermel fibers.

La mousse de polyuréthane et le tissu à mailles ont avantageusement été traités de façon à être ignifuges et auto extinguibles. the polyurethane foam is preferably laminated to a mesh fabric, for example a jersey, preferably cotton, but can also be made of synthetic fibers, for example polyamide or polyester. This jersey, intended to be in contact with the user's skin, makes the garment more comfortable. The polyurethane foam and the mesh fabric have advantageously been treated so as to be flame retardant and self-extinguishing.

The weight and weave of the fabric of the outer layer as well as the thickness of the carbon foam of the lining may vary depending on the conditions of use.

the garment according to the invention, both flame retardant and
NBC, was designed for the protection of personnel subjected to risks of aggression by heat and fire as well as to risks of nuclear, biological and chemical contamination (combatants, airplane pilots, crews of armored vehicles, security teams, rescue teams, firefighters, industry personnel, etc.).

This garment can be in the form of a jumpsuit or in the form of a jacket-pants set. The superimposition of the outer fabric and the filter lining constitutes an air-permeable complex, but impermeable to toxic and aggressive dust, liquids and vapors. the garment has an attached hood, which fits over a gas mask. Hand and foot protection is provided by NBC gloves, under-gloves and socks.

With regard to protection against chemical contamination, it should be noted that the fabric of the outer layer has an excellent water repellency, that is to say a power to transform liquids into droplets which slide on the fabric ; in other words, the drops of toxic liquid do not cling to it. In addition, the fabric of the outer layer is airtight; the vapors of toxic products which could pass through it are absorbed by the activated carbon of the carbonated polyurethane foam.

After contamination with toxic liquids, the garment should be cleaned and the filter liner should be replaced. For this purpose, each garment is supplied with a set of filter liners.

Modifications of detail in the field of technical equivalents can be made to the garment described above, without this being outside the scope of the present invention.
