Abstract

The puch-button is a hollowed, dome-shaped cylinder which travels in a recess the switch body against the action of a spiral return-spring. The core of the push-button has a small magnet fixed to its end. Movement of the button brings the magnet up to a thinned section of the non-magnetic watch body. An internal housing contains a contact strip and a fixed terminal. A second magnet is fixed to the end of the strip and, at rest, is adjacent to an internal thinned section of the housing wall opposite the first. The magnet poles are such that a repulsive force is set up when the button is pushed. The rocking contact strip is attached to the non-conducting base by a plug of silicone rubber with elastic properties, and this provides the restoring force of the strip. Flexible wires lead to contact points on an internal printed circuit board.

Description

The present invention relates to an electrical push button intended to cause the opening or closing of a circuit under the effect of a pressure generally exerted manually, this push button being particularly suitable for watches and chronometers using as energy source l 'electricity.

Watches of this type, whatever their reading mode (liquid crystals, light-emitting diodes or hands) have in common the fact of having a certain number of push-buttons intended to control particular functions such as reset time, date change, pre-setting an alarm or simply lighting.

The micro-mechanisms and electronic circuits which constitute the active parts of such watches are subject to more and more miniaturization, this for reasons of aesthetics or multiplicity of functions. This miniaturization makes the components more and more vulnerable to external agents, corrosive atmosphere, dust, etc.
Hence the imperative need to manufacture watches with perfect water resistance. If this problem is easily resolved with regard to the assembly of the glass on the case, it is not the same for the push buttons. These are currently equipped with conventional sealing means such as O-rings , baffles, or just "just sliding" mechanical adjustments. These means are not perfect, and the wear or aging of moving parts often end up leaving voids through which fine dust or mists, sources of corrosion, or water under high pressure are introduced. diving watches.

The push button according to the invention makes it possible to avoid these drawbacks. It is in fact designed in such a way that its action takes place through the mass of the watch case, without it being necessary to make perforations through which I mechanically act the conventional push buttons. This absence of perforations in the case therefore perfectly solves the problem of sealing.

Manual pressure on the push button does not cause direct contact on a conductive strip of the electrical circuit, but causes the advance of a magnet which, by its proximity, will remotely control the actual electrical contact, this located inside the box.

The accompanying drawing is a partial sectional view of a watch fitted with a push button according to the invention.

As shown in the appended drawing, the assembly is arranged on a watch case 1, the pusher 2 on which pressure is exerted according to the arrow, drives an integral pin 3, at the end of which a magnet 4 is fixed. These elements are guided coaxially by a part 5, the latter also ensuring, by interlocking, the fixing of this first assembly on the housing 1. The return movement is ensured by a spring 6.

This for the driving part inside the watch, a receiver assembly is placed in a support case 7. This contains a second magnet 8, integral with an oscillating strip 9, the latter being both articulated and "recalled "at rest by the elastic effect of a drop of" silicones "10 or product with similar characteristics.

When a pressure is exerted on the external push button, the magnet 4 is brought into the advanced position, as shown in thin dashed line, touching the thinned area of the watch case 1. It should be noted that this case is made of a material non-magnetic, and that in other cases, it is advisable to bring back in the thinned area of 1 a pellet having this characteristic. In this advanced position, the magnetic field crosses the mass of the housing 1, and causes the oscillation of the strip 9 itself driven by the recoil of the magnet 8 subjected to the magnetic field of 4. In this embodiment, the magnets work in opposition (same polarity face to face), this does not exclude the possibility, according to a different layout, of making these magnets work in attraction. Note also that the use of anisotropic permanent magnets significantly increases the performance of the assembly. Therefore, the oscillation caused by 8, 9, articulated at 10, allows contact at the level of the pins 11, thus closing any circuit. It can for example be a power supply from the energy source passing through the box 1, by means of a means 12, integral with a printed circuit 13, from which the assembly 8, 9 is supplied. by a flexible conductor 14.

Cette source duc'énergie est alors exploitable en 15 selon l'état du contact (ouvert ou fermé).This energy source can then be used at 15 depending on the state of the contact (open or closed).

It should be noted that such a push button does not require any significant modifications to equip watches fitted with conventional systems.

The push button object of the invention can store used in all cases where a risk of chemical alteration or mechanical blockage may appear given the miniaturization of the components used, but also in the case where one is in the presence very high external pressures. The most interesting application of the invention lies in the solution provided to the problems of sealing watches and chronometers, without excluding the possible applications on all devices comprising push-buttons such as computer keyboards or others.
