Abstract

The electric energy generation plant uses energy produced from low power sources such as wind generators or solar convertors, with the alternative of drawing energy from the mains supply when the other sources are not functioning adequately. The wind or solar sources generate a small electric power, sufficient to drive a motor which works into a reduction gearbox. The motor is driven at as high a speed as possible and the reduction gearbox produces at its output a relatively high mechanical torque at low speed to drive a large generator giving a power output much greater than the input power. This permits the reduction of the dimensions of the wind turbine and the mast mounted generating plant.
