Abstract

The base for telephone handsets is separated from the shell to which it is screwed in order to facilitate maintenance. The shell assembly has a drawer at the front to contain pencils and notes. The first additional handset is mounted to the rear of the normal handset and other handsets are mounted on either side. The line circuit switch in the cradle is operated in the normal manner by that handset. A transformer is used to obtain the same power in each of the earpieces, and has primary and secondary windings for each handset and microswitches which connect the appropriate winding into circuit as the handset is lifted. Back to back diodes on the secondary windings limit the amplitude of modulation superimposed on the signal by parasitic signals.
