Abstract

The fixing bolt consists of a threaded bolt with either a fixed head or a removable nut. The shank of the bolt has a slot for half its lower length and a hole drilled axially from the upper end, terminating just within the slot. A hole is drilled in the masonry with a diameter equal to the outside diameter of the bolt. The bolt is placed in the hole and the component to be fixed is placed in position over the bolt. A steel expander pin is hammered into the hole and causes the bolt to expand and embed the threads of the shank into the concrete.
