Abstract

The penetration of electromagnetic fields into the interior of cabinets housing electronic or computer equipment is reduced by eliminating gaps in the structure of the cabinet. Obstacle devices are placed at the points of fixture of the side panels. Lines of the electromagnetic field (3) must control around the obstacle to reach the interior. Right-angled brackets (4) form a vertical channel of rectangular section. The end of the connecting side panel (1) has a double right-angled fold which fits over the projecting channel and screws to it. At the corner join between two side panels (2,5) a right-angled section is welded on to fit over the join.

Description

"Radio-tight cabinet."
The present invention relates to a device intended to prevent interference, in particular radioelectric radiation, from disturbing the operation of devices contained in a cabinet provided with movable panels; said parasites can be of electrostatic or electromagnetic origin, permanent or transient, of low or high frequencies and can cause temporary or permanent disturbances - overvoltage, short-circuit, ... - of the functioning of said devices contained in said cabinet .

 This kind of problem is encountered in particular when the said cabinets contain materials used in the computer industry: printed cards or circuits, memory, program, peripherals, etc., especially when these cabinets are located in an industrial environment.

 In known devices, said cabinets generally have movable metal panels on the sides, which makes it possible, when removed, to maintain said materials contained in the cabinet; during the installation of each panel, it may not adhere sufficiently to the cabinet and therefore leave around its perimeter a passage for so-called parasites coming from inside the cabinet.

 To avoid this phenomenon, certain panels have around their periphery, multiple attachment points or even areas without painting or a combination of these two means the objective of which is to ensure electrical contact between the cabinet and the panel; these means are not always satisfactory and often the test results show that the cabinet does not meet the standards of electromagnetic compatibility.

 The purpose of the device according to the invention is to avoid these drawbacks.

 In fact, according to the present invention, a device intended to prevent parasites from disturbing the operation of devices contained in cupboards is particularly remarkable in that each movable panel is provided, on its periphery, with one or more baffles which cooperate with the baffle (s) of the cabinet to filter and gradually reduce the penetration of said parasites towards the interior of the cabinet.

 We can explain this improvement by saying that thanks to the various reinforcements that we welded to obtain these baffles, the panels obtained are very rigid and intimate contact with the cabinet becomes possible over a long length.

 The accompanying drawings illustrate by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the present invention.

 Figure 1 shows a vertical section of the cabinet 1.

 Figure 2 shows a section of Figure 1, along the horizontal plane A, section on which we find the cabinet 1, the rear panel 2, a side panel 5, and where two examples of baffle are highlighted in details surrounded.

 Figure 3 and Figure ZI show the details of the section along plane A of an embodiment of the baffles which provides the magnetic seal claimed by the present invention; the dotted line 3 clearly shows the path that radio radiation should follow to enter the interior of the cabinet. The part 4 welded to the movable side panel 5 cooperates with the cabinet 1 to form a practically impassable chicane. The part 6 welded to the movable side panel 5 cooperates with the movable rear panel 2 to also constitute a practically impassable chicane.

 In the embodiment described, and preferred, the rear panel 2 must be removed before the side panel 5 can be removed, but it is also possible to produce removable panels independently of each other.

1. Device intended to prevent parasites, in particular radioelectric radiation, from disturbing the operation of devices contained in a cabinet provided with movable panels, characterized in that each movable panel (2,5) of the cabinet (1) is provided, on its periphery with one or more baffles (4,6) which cooperate with the baffle (s) of said cabinet (1) to filter and gradually reduce the penetration (3) of said parasites towards the interior of the wardrobe.
