Abstract

The kitchen knife is used to make a spiralling slicing cut through a cylindrical or spherical fruit or vegetable such as an apple or a potato. The slicing process entails winding a self tapping screw (2) centrally into the apple and using it to pull a cutting blade (3) through in its wake. The pitch of the screw determines the thickness of the slive and the path of the screw determines the axis of the cutting spiral. The implement comprises a blade (3) with a handle (4) and a screw (2) at the respective ends. The screw projects normally from a major face of the blade and may be changed to suit the vegetable etc. being cut. The handle may include a finger hole (5) for improved gripping and driving.

Description

The invention relates to a method and a tool for slicing plants with a firm heart, in particular apples, potatoes, black radishes, etc.

Admittedly, there are many cutting tools making it possible to make successive slices of variable thickness or simultaneous slices of predetermined thickness, but without making it possible to easily cut them in a helical fashion.

To overcome this drawback, the inventor has developed a method characterized in that in a cylindrical or spherical plant an axial well is dug using a screw serving as a guide for a blade which is integral with it and to which a rotary movement is applied determining the start of the assembly and the helical cut around the well. After the cutting operation, the plant retains its original shape, which is advantageous for its presentation and often also for its conservation. The process can be used in many cases. When one does not want to keep the cut in a helix, but to obtain slices, it is enough to split the fruit (or other) by a half plane substantially perpendicular to the cutting planes and stops. - both at the central well.

Les hélices peuvent être utilisées directement. The propellers can be used directly.

Thus a potato cut in a helix and thrown in hot oil, opens, and gives fries of the prettiest effect.

To better understand the invention, an example of embodiment is given below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a tool in the cut position,
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the tool.

The tool consists of a blade 3 provided at its free end with a screw 2, and at its other end with a handle 4 with orifice 5 for passing the finger. The screw 2 can be either fixed permanently and its head stamped in an orifice provided for this purpose, or removable. In the latter case, the change of screw makes it possible to choose a determined pitch, and consequently the thickness of the propeller
When the screw 2 is suitably arranged in the axis of the vegetable or of the fruit to be cut, it suffices to push the handle on rotation so that the screw 2 sinks into the material, serving as a pivot for the blade, which causes to leave at a certain level, the cutting of said material along a helix The blade thus crosses the plant from top to bottom, leaving it in its original form when it is properly maintained.
