Abstract

The electric heater uses an array of series connected resistors of the type commonly used in electronic circuits as power resistors. The resistor array replaces the wound resistance wire heating elements conventionally used in electric heating. The resistors range in value from 1.5ohm to 6.8ohm and have a power rating of 10 watt, and are of the type used as volt dropping resistors in electronic circuits. The resistors are series connected and mounted on a support surface. By variation of the number and combination of resistor values chosen, the power rating of the heater is closely controllable and the low level power density makes it suitable for warming a surface.
