Abstract

The storage tank is insulated and has a water tight manhole cover. All pipework connections are taken through the cover. The indirect heat exchanger inside the tank has flow and return connections to and from the solar panels. This circuit is completely self contained and has an anti- freeze solution. The central heating circuit draws water from the top of the tank which is pumped through the circuit and returned through the manhole cover and discharges at the bottom of the bank. An electric immersion heater is provided as a back-up facility.
