Abstract

The semi trailer for carrying cars is formed by a lowered chassis (1), at the end of which is a single axle (2). The load is carried between this axle and the lorry (3) towing hook. The single axle, alternatively, may be replaced by a double one. The axle may be of steering type. The lorry can be provided with an extra axle (4) as well as the normal one (5). For an 18 metre unit, the trailer can be arranged to carry either eight or nine cars, keeping inside overall height limits.

Description

 The present invention relates to the field of road transport of motor vehicles by means of car transporter convoys, and relates to a semi-porous car transporter trailer.

Road convoys currently existing generally consist of a two-axle truck, and a trailer having either two central axles arranged in tandem, or a rear axle and a front steering axle.

In these known trailers, the wheel arches placed in the middle of the trailer considerably hamper loading and loading operations, in particular from the point of view of the available width, and cause a significant loss of space. In addition, in the case of trailers fitted with a steering axle with a front axle, the loss of space is even greater due to the space required between the truck and the trailer. Finally, because of their large chassis height, these known trailers have relatively poor handling.

 The present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages.

 Its purpose is, in fact, to be a semi-carried car transporter trailer, characterized in that it essentially consists of a lowered chassis provided at its rear end with a single axle, the load being distributed between this single axle and the hook truck hitch.

The invention will be better understood from the description below, which relates to a preferred embodiment, given by way of nonlimiting example, and explains with reference to the appended schematic drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a view in side elevation of a carrier convoy with a trailer according to the invention, and Figure 2 is a view similar to that of Figure 1 showing another method of loading the convoy.

 In accordance with the invention, and as shown more particularly, by way of example, Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing, the semi-carried car transporter trailer is in the form of a lowered chassis provided at its rear end of a single axle 2 and attached to its front part to the coupling hook of a truck 3. By this construction, the load is distributed between the rear axle 2 and the coupling hook of the truck 3, and to absorb The excess load transferred to the towing hook, the truck 3 is advantageously provided with an additional axle 4 behind the original axle 5.

 According to an alternative embodiment of the invention, not shown, the axle of the trailer can be a double axle allowing increased load.

 In addition, according to another alternative embodiment of the invention, the rear axle, single or double, can be in the form of a steering axle, in particular in order to satisfy certain regulations.

 The cord-shaped trailer according to the invention allows the loading of four (Figure 1) or five cars (Figure 2), depending on their size, so that for a road convoy of 18 meters in length, the total load can be eight or of nine cars without exceeding the regulatory height.

In addition, the invention allows not only an increased loading capacity at equal payload, but also better handling. Finally, the trailer according to the invention can also be applied to the transport of trucks.

 Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and represented in the appended drawing. Modifications remain possible, in particular from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements, or by substitution of technical equivalents, without going out for as much of the protection field of the invention.

Semi-mounted car transporter trailer, characterized in that it is essentially constituted by a lowered chassis (1) provided at its rear end with a single axle (2), the load being distributed between this axle (2) and the truck coupling hook (3)  2.
