Abstract

A wire electrode covered with a non-stick sheath or film is mounted on a rigid panel of non-conductive material using mobile clamps to secure the wire as a profile against which layers of fusible material may be laminated under pressure from an ancillary platen. The wire is maintained at an intermediate temp. by electrical resistance operating at a constant load, and rapidly heated to fusion temps., as required by addition short term inductance heating. Electrode is used esp. for producing non-linear welds in sheets of material which cannot be laminated by high frequency heating techniques, e.g. polyethylene film (16).

La présente invention concerne d'une façon générale le soudage des matières plastiques en feuilles et elle est plus particulièrement relative à une électrode perfectionnée pour le soudage thermique des feuilles de matière thermoplastique
On utilise actuellement pour le soudage des feuilles de matière plastique thermosoudable deux principaux procédés différents , savoir : le soudage par haute fréquence et le soudage sous pression et chaleur au moyen d'électrodes chauffées par un courant électrique, soit de façon continue, soit par impulsions.
