Abstract

The demountable column (2) has a curved neck and supports a coat rack or a coat hanger, designed for mounting on the back rest (B) of a chair. An externally winged shallow 'U' section plate (1) is screwed (5) to the back of the chair to form a staple (3), the column being of rectangular section bar with symmetrical horizontal shoulders forming a basal bolt formation or tenon (4). The column is mounted by sliding the tenon (4) into the staple, its head locating a piece of angled plate (6) with holes (7) for the fixing of a coat hanger.
