Abstract
Description
The object of the invention relates to a device intended to improve the efficiency of heat engines.
It is intended to equip internal combustion, internal combustion and laden engines, in order to avoid power take-offs on the engine shaft causing various accessories and the resulting energy losses.
In known devices, the motor was used to drive the alternators, pumps and other accessories, which reduced their efficiency in sometimes considerable proportions.
The device according to the invention eliminates these drawbacks and makes it possible to drive the accessories accesories used for the operation of the engine by an autonomous means.
It consists of the new application of a turbine on the exhaust pipe, in order to use the live force of the gases for driving an alternator.
In the appended drawings, given by way of nonlimiting example, of one of the embodiments of the subject of the invention.
Figure 1 shows w in longitudinal section the location of the turbine on the gas exhaust pipe.
A.Figure 2 shows schematically the drive of the alternator connected to the accessory organs
The turbine 1, FIG. 1 is shown in the example given in the exhaust duct 2, and receives the engine gases arrow A as the working fluid.
Openings or openings 3, 4 are oriented in the direction of advancement of the vehicle arrow C, and capture a secondary air arrows B, which increases the rotational power of the turbine while cooling it.
In addition, this inflow of working fluid accelerates the escape of gases that the turbine could have braked.
The motor shaft 5 rotating at the speed of the blades transmits the rotation by the gear 6 to the reduction gear 7 which drives the alternator or the dynamo 8.
The current is sent by the conductors 9, 10, 11, 12, either to the spark plugs 13, to the accumulators 14, or even to the pumps 15, 16.
The turbine 1 does not need to be immersed in the total gas flow of the exhaust. It can withstand a large distribution of air, or even be coupled to another turbine actuated by the movement of air from the vehicle in motion.
When this device is applied to the automobile, the fuel economy is around 10% for vehicles with a displacement of less than two liters.
Due to the autonomy of the production of electrical energy, we are no longer limited in the power of the generator. We can also drive by an electric motor, a centrifugal compressor at constant speed, mounted in the intake of fresh gas from the engine. This compressor makes it possible to cancel the pressure drops in the air intake circuit.
This turbine assembly combined with an alternator no longer absorbs the mechanical energy transmitted by the motor shaft, because to date the drive of these accessories absorbed a non-negligible part of the useful mechanical energy.
However, the shapes, dimensions and arrangements of the various elements may vary within the limit of the equivalents, like the materials used for their manufacture, without changing the general conception of the invention which has just been described.
