Abstract

The connecting arrangement for exhaust pipes, partic. to exhaust manifolds, uses a flange with a conical aperture, into which the similarly-shaped pipe end fits. Round the rim of the conical pipe end (7) is a bead (8) which is deformed when it is pressed into the flange (3). The cone of the pipe end preferably has an angle of 20 to 26 deg. There are also deformable clamps spaced around the periphery of the flange aperture (10). The flange thickness is pref. about 12 mm. To connect pipes so fitted, the flange free faces are brought together and clamped by bolts.
