Abstract

The opening device is inserted in an envelope at the same time as the letter, and comprises a flat body of sufficient rigidity, sized to fit in it. At the middle of one edge of the envelope it has a protrusion (2), which can penetrate the envelope by pressing with a finger at the appropriate point. On opposite sides of the protrusion are cutting edges (3,4) running obliquely in relation to the envelope edge, and extending to the edges at right angles to the latter. At the middle of the opposite envelope edge to the first it has a notch (5), so that the user can grip the envelope at this point and not the device, while at the same time pulling with the other hand on the protrusion so as to cut progressively along the first edge.
