Abstract

The letter box has a fixed hinged lid with a lock. The underneath of the lid exposes two flaps (9,10) which are hinged at the side of the box and spring loaded. Parcels or letters cannot be removed from the container after passing through the slot. The lock (16) closes the lid and locks the flaps closed. The lock may be replaced by an electronic catch opened with a card. The inside of the lid contains a pocket for messages or instructions. The box may alternatively be fitted with a narrow side slot which can be hinged and fitted with a closing flap.
