Abstract

Fibres are coloured by contacting them while they are in the gel condition with a bis-cationic anthraquinone dyestuff, free from acidic water-solubilising gps., of the formula (I), where Z is opt. substd. alkylene; Q+ is a cationic gp.; A- is an anion; the floating -NH-A-Q+ gp. is in the 4,5 or 8-position of the anthraquinone nucleus; and the benzene rings A and B are opt. substd. A novel soln. for use in the process comprises 5-80 wt.% of the dyestuff in an aq. medium. The dyestuff is highly soluble and forms conc. solns. in water without solubilising aids. It can form bright blue dyeings with good fastness by an 'in-line' process.
