Abstract

Cable connection or run between two parts of a vehicle body that are hinged together, e.g. rear door and the body of a police car, the door carrying illuminated signs etc. The connection method ensures that there are no visible loops of wiring in any of the possible door - body positions. The wiring (4) is taken through a sheath, normally a polyamide sleeve, which is fixed in position by a cleat attached to the metal work of the body panel (2). The cable passes through to the body - door gap via an elastic ring (9), e.g. rubber. A ring (11) on the door in a material such as nylon allows the cable to slide as the door is opened etc., the cable being held taut by an elastic line (12) secured on the door (13) and to a point (14) on the cable.
