Abstract

Materials are subjected to traction and compression tests during fatigue testing in order to determine the useful life. The measurements are made in real time in order to determine the deformation. A cylindrical sample (1) is attached via a dynamometer (4) to the chassis (2) of a traction machine (3). The sample is heated by an induction heater (5) powered from an HF source (52). The temp. is measured by a pyrometer (6). The central part (14) of the sample is subjected to constant deformation controlled by a calculator (7) to which the outputs of extensometers (4) and a displacement sensor (8) are connected. The displacement sensor is attached to the heads (11,12) on the sample. The calculator also receives the force applied to the sample in order to provide deformation valves for a comparator (9) to control the traction machine.
