Abstract

The lock includes a barrel (7) containing the locking mechanism. The barrel is mounted inside a protective cylinder (8) with ends (8b,8c) partially covering the face (19) through which a key is inserted. A flange (8a) on the other side of the cylinder lies between an outer plate (11) and the surface of the door frame (6). Although the cylinder may rotate it is normally prevented from doing so by a small peg (12) passing through a hole in the flange. A second peg (14) also passes through the flange, and has a loop of conducting wire around it. If a burglar attempts to force the lock, any torque ruptures the small peg (12). The outer cylinder then turns, breaking the conductor, producing a signal to an alarm circuit.
