Abstract

Covers for temporary protection of parts of a motor vehicle from heat are made from heat-resistant material in the form of closed envelopes contg. an insulating material. Used for protecting heat-sensitive fittings, e.g. as the vehicle passes through a paint stoving oven at e.g. 90-150 deg. C., to cure touch-up (repainting of blemishes or flaws). Cover is easy to apply, and can be re-used. Pref. the covers of the envelopes are made of glass fabric covered with a reflective metal foil or metallised foil or on the surface facing away from the protected part, towards the source of heat. The envelopes are secured by small magnets trapped beneath ancillary covers of loose woven cloth which can accommodate superficial metallic dust.
