Abstract

The needle is for reproduction from disc records, esp. using a capacity variation mode to produce high-density records in which the information is in the form of geometrical variations. A main element terminates in a point with an inclined contact face to meet the record, with an electrode attached to the element near the point, so that the point tracks the spiral groove and the electrode senses capacity variations. The electrode has a width transverse to the line of the track which is less than the width of the track itself. the extreme tip of the electrode has a flat point in contact with the track.
