Abstract

Superimposed coatings of viscous resins of contrasting colour are modified to obtain special decorative effects by subjecting the surface to impulses from one or more gaseous jets discharging normally or obliquely against the coating surface prior to its hardening. The multiple nozzles used may vary in size and/or shape and/or angle of incidence, pref. discharge air or nitrogen at an absolute pressure of 1.1-11 atm. at an angle of incidence between 0 and 90 deg. Used for producing coatings with colour variations resembling selected stones or timbers for e.g. walls, furniture, facades etc., using coloured coatings based on polyester or epoxy resins.
