Abstract

An artificial finger nail or toe nail which is fitted with an overlap of 2 to 3 mm. on top of the natural nail using a cyanoacrylate adhesive as bonding medium. The artificial nail is pref. a polyamide which is non-flammable, not soluble in acetone, not easily broken but can be cut and filed like a natural nail. After the artificial nail has been fixed in place, there is a demarcation step about 0.2mm deep where the natural nail appears. This can be obscured by coat(s) of adhesive and powder. The artificial nail can be varnished and does not require retouching as the natural nail grows.
