Abstract

The evaluator separates the quiescent colour carrier wave frequencies (sync. signals) transmitted during the horizontal blanking interval and passes them to a frequency-dependent network. The network's output is used as switching signal to define the SECAM switching phases or for colour switch-off. The frequency-dependent network consists of a capacitive resonant circuit or of a product discriminator. The resonant circuit comprises an inductor and a first capacitor in series. This series combination is shunted by a second capacitor. The product discriminator contains a phase shifter shifting the phase of one of the frequencies of the quiescent colour carrier wave.
