Abstract

The thermo-insulating flexible cover (20) is used on a swimming pool and serves as a safety measure when the pool is unattended. It is power operated by a motor (13) driven winding drum (5). The cover (20) is wound onto the drum (5) to effect retraction and vice versa. The drum (5) and motor (13) are sited in adjacent separate pits (12, 11) at a pool end. The motor drive shaft (7) is positioned at a level above that of a drum axle (3). The motor pit has invert drain holes (22). Transmission is by pulley wheels (6, 8) and a belt (18). This prevents damage to the motor (13) when the drum pit is accidentally flooded.
