Abstract

The unit allows the patient to view the effect of different postures on the spinal column. It uses means for measuring the position parameters of vertebrae to the left and/or right of the spinal axis and which is attached to the back of the patient via adhesive or which is incorporated in a garment worn by the patient. An image is provided on a viewing screen in front of the patient in dependence on the measured parameters. Pref. the positions of the vertebrae is detected via a helicoidal bellows of flexible material which is compressible and extensible and which is attached to the back via an adhesive band. The bellows has electromagnetic potentiometric or ultrasonic detectors spaced along it.
