Abstract

A number of wicket gates arranged side by side comprise a barrier or rotating arm which prevents access until a ticket is validated. A single ticket reader is used in conjunction with an arm assembly which can be changed to rotate in the opposite direction to provide entry or exit control. A gate comprises a base (1) anchored to the ground and with a pivot (1a) on the centre line. A locking mechanism is located at one end and is operated by a pedal (2). When the pedal is operated bearing assemblies allow the assembly to be rotated around the pivot axis and limited by stops (12). A chassis in the cover assembly (3) supports a magnetic reader (5) to check the validity of tickets to allow unlocking of a tripod (4) barrier assembly.
