Abstract
The wedge is for use by climbers and is for jamming between the walls of a rocky fissure. It has at least two symmetrical curved surfaces which are orientated about circular sections which are eccentric with respect to the point of symmetry. A rope is joined to the wedge and rolls round it so that by rotating on itself the thickness of the body can be varied to fit the width of the fissure. The curved surfaces are joined by symmetrical flat surfaces which determine the minimum width of the wedge.
