Abstract

The demountable shelving substructure uses vertical braced ladder frames connected by horizontal rails (2) at alternative heights, the connections utilising pins through aligned holes (26, 27). Longerons or posts (3) have an internally winged (7, 8) 'U' section, the rails having a rectangular hollow section with terminal angle iron connectors. Two vertical rows of windows (9, 15) and pin holes (27) are provided in the post web (4), the windows inc. external corner tabs (12) with inclined edges (12a). The connectors are similarly furbished with cut and offset flaps (23) in lieu of the windows. Inclined flap edges (24) engage the tab edges (12a) and a rail slides down the post until the flange (18) is flat against post flange (5) and holes align.
