Abstract
The tiles (6) spanning the purlins are concave upwards and have a flat base that is notched to fit the purlins. Each is hollow forming a pocket of air which aids insulation, while the channels of the two tiles in line overlap. Short traditional curved drain tiles (7) are arranged cocave down over the end walls of two adjacent long tiles to form a waterproof joint. The construction lightens the network of carrying elements, eases the laying of the traditional curved drain tiles and reduces the risk that the whole roof is not water-tight.
