Abstract
The actuator comprises a supporting frame in which two identical syringes can be rapidly and rigidly installed. The pistons of the two syringes are mechanically coupled so that axial displacement of one piston is reproduced in reverse direction by the other. One of the syringes is the injection syringe and the other is the driving syringe. The actuator has a power source adapted to retract the piston of the driving syringe, hence advancing the piston of the injection syringe, at a predetermined rate. The frame pref. positions the injection and driving syringes coaxially with their pistons back-to-back. The driving syringe nozzle is pref. connected to receive fluid from an hydraulic motor, partic. from the nozzle of a third syringe which is power driven. A single syringe actuator of this type can be readily adapted to operate any type of syringe chosen by a doctor from a wide range, provided he has two of that type to fit into the actuator.
