Abstract
The colour TV tube has a cathodoluminescent line screen and a shadow mask with slotted apertures. The slots are arranged in columns and separated by strips. The screen (32) has light absorbing regions as individual fields (54) located in alignment with the strips (52). The dimensions of the light absorbing regions, measured in a direction at right angles to the longitudinal extent of the slots (X-X), are identical to the width of three subsequent cathodoluminescent lines (42, 44, 46) of the screen in the same direction. The light absorbing regions may form together approximately 20% of the screen surface. In the screen production a photosensitive material on the tube front face is exposed through the mask as a photomatrix, the exposure light being emitted by two points. The straight connecting line of the points extends orthogonally to the longitudinal direction of the slots in the mask. The two points may be defined by the ends of a linear light source.
