Abstract

The shock absorbing front bumpers for that of a car, has deformable parts that are at varying heights. There are three (A, B, Ce, the most rigid of which (A) is lower than a pedestrian's knee (7). The two lower parts (A, B) are carried by supporting bands (5, 6), the upper band being behind the lower one about knee level. The part (B) projects slightly more forwards than the lower one (A) and thus contacts a pedestrian first. The top part (C) is an extension of the bonnet edge.
